By Irene L. Savio and Leticia Alvarez Reguera

With the prologue of Rossend Domènech and a special letter of a Syrian refugee to Europeans.

Almost by chance, grandmother Emilia became a lifeguard on a Greek island. Samia Sleman Kamal had a father who loved her before she was kidnapped by ISIS and she became, at the age of 13, a sex slave. The car salesman Vladiša Čuljak never thought that Vukovar, scenario of a civil war in the 90s, could assist again to the passage of thousands of displaced. Nevena Radovic studied Traumatology and Intensive Care in Belgrade before worrying about scabies and riding in a six meters long van into the pain of migrants. Nour read the Bible but, after Europe blew to smithereens his dream of reaching Germany, he wanted to return to Syria and die there. Syrians, Iraqis, Kurds ... thousands fled terror and war, leaving everything behind to start again. But Europe was not paradise.
This is the story of this migratory epic, told through its protagonists.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:

Irene L. Savio and Leticia Alvarez Reguera travelled to the Balkans and whole Europe covering the immigration crisis that broke all schemes in the Old Continent. From Turkey to Norway. Before the immigration crisis of 2015 and 2016, Irene and Leticia worked together in Ukraine, in the most critical moments of the conflict that still shakes the country; in Greece, covering the socio-economic crisis that began in 2008 and in several countries of the Balkans region, where they also interviewed presidents and prime ministers of the countries that emerged with the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia. In their professional life, both have worked in different audiovisual and written media in Spain and Latin America.
